Vacancies on the AGCAS Research Group

AGCAS is seeking applications from members with an interest in the ongoing development of the AGCAS research programme to join the AGCAS Research Group.

Over the past two years, the group has undertaken or overseen a range of projects. These include:

• the production of an annual Heads of Service Graduate Labour Market Survey;

• input into the AGCAS Resources Survey, AGCAS Membership Survey and Scottish Report on SMEs;

• developing and piloting a First Year Student Survey and a Careers Fair Survey;

• undertaking research work for partners and external clients;

• developing the programme for and presenting at the first AGCAS Research Conference.

Group composition

The group's enthusiasm and composition has remained unchanged since its creation, with the cross section of members comprising of Fiona Christie (University of Salford), Matt Edwards (University of Birmingham), Laura Kerley (Sheffield Hallam University), Tom Staunton (University of Derby) and, until recently, Liz Wilkinson (Royal Holloway, University of London). Members of the group, along with AGCAS staff members Helen Zhu and Ian Ford, all report to Bob Gilworth, AGCAS Director of Research and the Research Group Chair. The group meets quarterly, coupled with varying degrees of email and phone activity throughout the year, as and when the research programme dictates.

Vacancies for new members

Following a review of the overall size and composition of the Reseach Group, a decision has been taken to seek three new members: two additional new members for the group and a like-for-like head of service replacement for Liz Wilkinson.

To reflect the diversity of the AGCAS membership, we welcome applications from members throughout the UK to join the group, regardless of the size and make-up of your service and institution. Applicants should have experience of undertaking research projects and/or considering their impact, coupled with a willingness to contribute to the ongoing development of one of AGCAS's key strategic initiatives. Two of the vacancies are open to all AGCAS members and the other vacancy is open to a suitably qualified head of service.

How to apply

Application is by CV and supporting statement highlighting your research experience and how you can contribute to the group. Please email your application to: Ian Ford by Friday 2nd December 2016.
