David Winter appointed Learning Director on the AGCAS Board of Directors
AGCAS is pleased to announce David Winter, Head of Research and Organisation Development for The Careers Group, University of London, has been appointed as Learning Director on the AGCAS Board of Directors.
Strong ties to AGCAS
David has a long standing affiliation with AGCAS, having been a trainer and mentor on AGCAS courses for over 15 years. Previously, as a Head of Consultancy, David worked with membership organisations to help them design and deliver professional development and leadership programmes, and resultantly had as an in-depth knowledge of the complexities involved in delivering high quality professional development. David will bring a strategic perspective to the position of Learning Director, along with a track record of delivering high quality training in order to ensure that AGCAS members can thrive amidst the constantly changing landscape of HE employability.
David commented on his experience of working with AGCAS:
"AGCAS already provides very high quality training but, if we are going to achieve our strategic aim of having all members rely on AGCAS for their professional development, we need to do more. For me, professional learning isn’t just about developing skills and knowledge but about building our professional identity and expertise so that we have the confidence and credibility to influence the employability agenda within our institutions and beyond.”
About the role
The emphasis of the role, as with all positions on the AGCAS Board, is on strategic input. Directors play a central role in providing strategic leadership, policy direction and the vision required to ensure that AGCAS meets the needs of its members and stakeholders. The Learning Director is a new position on the board developed in line with the 2016-2019 AGCAS Strategy, which will develop the Learning programme to ensure that members are able to rely on AGCAS for their professional development.
David commenced his term as Learning Director on 1 March 2017 and will serve on the AGCAS Board of Directors for the next three years. David was appointed following election by the membership. AGCAS would like to thank the other nominees for this role – Judith Baines and David Foster.
