Representing AGCAS in the media: Directory of Experts

Do you have a good knowledge of a particular area of careers and employability work, for example subject or sector-specific LMI, widening participation, diversity issues, international students, or postgraduate study? AGCAS holds a Directory of Experts: a register of AGCAS members who volunteer, as opportunities and requests arise, to speak confidently on behalf of the organisation to the press, researchers and other interested parties or provide briefings for other AGCAS colleagues who find themselves in the role of spokesperson.

How does the Directory of Experts work?

•   Expressions of interest should be submitted via the appropriate form with the support of your head of service.

•   Please state your interest, availability and area of expertise and indicate the types of media requests you are able to fulfil.

•    The Directory of Experts is held in the AGCAS office (not available for public view) and is only used by AGCAS staff to effectively direct media/press queries and requests.

•    There is also an option for members who don't wish to go on record themselves but are happy to brief others.

•    Inclusion in the Directory of Experts does not compel members to comply with a request – it merely indicates that the AGCAS office may make contact in relation to a given request.

Raised profile

Benefits to members include a raised profile for themselves, their institution and their research/projects, as well as the opportunity for professional development. For AGCAS, it will increase our capacity to meet press and other requests resulting in a higher-profile media presence and greater debate of careers and employability issues.

Registering your interest

The expression of interest form is available to download below (you will need to be signed into the site to access it). Completed forms should be returned to Gemma Green, AGCAS Communications and Engagement Manager.
