Update on planning careers 2015

In August 2015, Jackie Leyland, Careers Adviser at the University of Liverpool and AGCAS Liaison Officer (ALO) for the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), met with representatives from the RTPI to discuss careers in planning.

The main area of discussion revolved around the graduate labour market. There continues to be a marked shortage of entry-level and experienced planning professionals, particularly in the public sector and in the South East and London. To address this, the RTPI has introduced a series of initiatives:

Apprenticeships at Level 3
Future Planners Bursary Scheme
Learning Partners Scheme
