    AGCAS Executive Director update: sector reports (April 2016)

    In this month's update, Elaine Boyes, AGCAS Executive Director, outlines current HE issues that will impact on the sector and our work. She also invites feedback from members on the possible creation of a STEM Task Group and encourages members to submit a workshop proposal for the forthcoming AGCAS Annual Conference.

    Vacancy for Treasurer on the AGCAS Board of Directors

    Nominations are invited from Full Members of AGCAS for the position of Treasurer on the AGCAS Board of Directors. The Treasurer oversees all financial matters of AGCAS in line with good practice and in accordance with the governing and legal requirements, reporting to the AGCAS Board about the financial health of the organisation. Principal duties include overseeing, approving and presenting budgets, accounts and financial statements/reports. The role involves close liaison with the AGCAS Business Manager.

    J. P. Morgan wins TARGETjobs AGCAS award

    J.P. Morgan has won the AGCAS Award for Careers Service Engagement at the 2016 TARGETjobs National Graduate Recruitment Awards. J.P. Morgan was nominated by Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) for its programme supporting students from low income backgrounds to achieve their full potential.

    Update on Tier 2 rules for international students

    On 24 March 2016, the immigration minister James Brokenshire announced there would be no amendments to the rules for international students switching from Tier 4 to Tier 2 in order to work in the UK after their studies. The statement came in response to the Migration Advisory Committee (MAC)'s review of Tier 2.

    Representing AGCAS in the media: Directory of Experts

    Do you have a good knowledge of a particular area of careers and employability work, for example subject or sector-specific LMI, widening participation, diversity issues, international students, or postgraduate study? AGCAS holds a Directory of Experts: a register of AGCAS members who volunteer, as opportunities and requests arise, to speak confidently on behalf of the organisation to the press, researchers and other interested parties.
