A one-day Eastern, London and Southern AGCAS regional training course to raise awareness of research careers outside academia.
What will it cover?
•The various job roles within this area
•Career progression opportunities
•Recruitment and selection in the sector
•Tips for advising students who wish to enter these professions
The event will consist of 3 panel talks on:
- Research careers in government and parliament Confirmed speakers - Department of Communities & Local Government, West Sussex County Council, House of Commons Library, Parliamentary Researcher
- Research careers in think tanks and social research – Confirmed speakers – Think Young, Centre for Social Justice, NatCen, Learning & Work Institute
- Research in charities, market research and media research – Confirmed speakers – National Literacy Trust, ORC plus other speakers to be confirmed shortly
Each talk will be followed by small group discussions in a speed networking style where careers staff can ask follow up questions in a smaller group setting.

All careers service staff working with students and graduates looking for research roles outside of academia.
