Identifying and Working with Entrepreneurial Students, Durham

  1. Fri 12 May

This one day AGCAS NE Regional Training session will be delivered as a practical-based workshop. Delegates will take part in a small team exercise and lively debate. The session will include talks and Q&A with student entrepreneurs at Durham University.

In the UK some 9100 new graduate-driven start-up businesses have been created over the past two years (HESA) employing over 40,000 people. These figures demonstrate the growing appetite for business creation as a preferred employability destination amongst our students and highlight the economic impact as we move towards a knowledge-based economy.

The challenge for guidance professionals and educators is to ensure that we can understand our students’ motivation and developmental requirements and provide relevant co/extra-curricular support and initiatives which engage and equip our students with the skills, knowledge and capabilities to develop successful enterprises.

Enhancing regional, national and international influence and positively impacting upon student experience, recruitment, retention, graduate and university performance and alumni relations - get this right and the benefits are many-fold!

Upon completion of the workshop, delegates will:

-Be able to identify the characteristics displayed by entrepreneurial students
-Understand the entrepreneurial journey taken by students as they move from concept to creation
-Be provided with ideas and new methods for engaging entrepreneurs in the short, medium and long term which can deployed within their own institution.

Please send your completed booking form - available below - and any queries to: Vincent Robson
