Skills Awards conference, Manchester

  1. Tue 26 Jun

After our successful national conference in 2016, interest continues to grow in expanding Skills Award schemes. This year’s AGCAS Skills Award Conference will provide a great opportunity to network with colleagues on established and developing Skills Awards.

About this year’s theme – HE institutions increasingly see Skills Awards as platforms for enhancing students’ experience and improving their employability. Over the past couple of years, many award schemes have transformed processes or shape, changed from non-credit bearing to credit bearing modules to become part of the curriculum, adjusted their elements in order to scale up or have a larger impact. Therefore, change has been a common factor for many professionals involved with Skills Awards. We will look at:

How do we navigate through change and make it effective?
What has been our experience of ‘innovating’ and ‘renovating’ Skills Awards?
And what have we learnt through the process?
How has TEF, DLHE and employability in general changed the landscape of skills awards?
What is the purpose of a skills award in 2018?

As part of the conference we are seeking workshop proposals and poster presentation bids on the following topic areas:

    Redesigning skills awards (strategy-led, student-led or process-led)
Using skills awards to engage with employers
    Measuring impact
Strategy changes due to the TEF results
Using technology incl. online platforms and open badges
    Scaling up

The workshop/poster proposal form is attached, and the deadline for entries is Tuesday 6 March 2018.

The booking information will be coming out late February/early March, but do reserve the date in your diaries!
