Test User Ability (formerly Level A) - Certificate of Competence in Occupational Testing, available Online
AGCAS offers Test User Ability (formerly known as Level A) psychometric testing via distance learning. The course is offered all year round and can be started whenever suits you best.

    Introduction to Guidance Interviewing

    This two-day practical introduction to guidance interviewing is for advisers with little or no experience, or for those who are new to HE. It is appropriate to both short and longer interventions. The programme contains a range of learning methods, including presentation, discussion, case studies and video interviews with students. We only accept five participants on to this course in order to create a supportive, secure and focused environment for learning.

    Career Development Theories Workshop (2 days), Warwick

    This two-day course is compulsory for registrants studying the Career Development Theories module of the joint AGCAS and The University of Warwick MA, PG Diploma, PG Certificate in Career Education, Information and Guidance in Higher Education (CEIGHE) or related PG Award. It is only available to current AGCAS and Warwick students enrolled on these programmes.

    This one day course will provide an opportunity to learn about some of the new technologies being used in careers, employability and recruitment.

    Guidance Refresher, London

    This new one day course is aimed at experienced guidance practitioners who wish to re-visit career theory and models and refresh their skills. The course will be interactive using case studies and exercises alongside presentation and will provide an opportunity to reflect on guidance practice and share strategies.

    Accelerate - Get Your PGTs Moving Faster, London

    Given that many of the UK taught postgraduate courses are a one year programme, there is a short window to engage students with careers service activities and encourage them to make the most of their time at the University as well as managing their expectations. This one  day event will offer the opportunity to look at some current practice of “pre-arrival” careers activities in a number of institutions with delegates having the opportunity to discuss/compare what is on offer in their own institutions with some new ideas that may be worth considering for future good practice.

    This one day AGCAS NE Regional Training session will be delivered as a practical-based workshop. Delegates will take part in a small team exercise and lively debate.

    This one day event, as part of the HEFCE pilot project, will explore the impact of Careers Registration as an evidence based approach for employability support in Higher Education.

    National one-day conference discussing the policy landscape surrounding graduate employability and skills, including the Longitudinal Educational Outcomes (LEO) data, the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) and the wider skills agenda.

    This year's AGCAS Alumni Reunion Event will take place in Hull on Wednesday 17 May. The programme will begin at 10am with refreshments and end around 3:30pm with all retired, about to retire and other former members of AGCAS welcome to attend.

    How do the issues of resilience and confidence impact on the career development of students? How can we support the development and consolidation of both in a careers context?  This AGCAS NE Regional Training day will give practitioners the opportunity to share ideas and good practice in enhancing both.

    Seeing the unseen: How to spot and support students with non-visible disabilities, London

    Back by popular demand! This course was delivered last year by members of the Disability Task Group, at De Montfort University and, because of the high demand for spaces, we are repeating the training day for the London Region.

    Not sure what is meant by the term “Non-visible Disability”? Lacking knowledge or confidence when supporting students with a non-visible disability? Then this is the course for you! This AGCAS  Regional Training event in London will explore some of the issues facing students with a non-visible disability, and enable participants to share good practice and information resources.

    Routes into Teaching, Oxford

    This one day event looks at how the delivery of postgraduate initial teacher training has undergone substantial change since 2012-13. We have seen a government-led move towards a more school-centric approach in which growing numbers of schools lead on recruitment and the delivery of training and the emergence of additional specialist routes into teaching.  These sit alongside existing University-led PGCE programmes and more established direct entry routes via Teach First and in the independent sector.

    The second AGCAS Research Conference will focus on the use of research to strengthen practice. The conference will also include the launch of two AGCAS national research project reports: the First-Year Career Readiness Survey and the Careers Fairs Survey.
