Discussion list rules

First, check in Subscriber's Corner on the JISCMail website that you have already subscribed to the list you want to post a message to. Email to join a new list.

We ask that all AGCAS members using our JISCMail discussion lists adhere to the following guidelines:

• No attachments

• Messages must have a meaningful subject heading

• Messages must be sent to the correct list (check list criteria)

• Messages must be presented in neutral terms, especially when posing questions about external organisations' engagement with careers services and/or students and graduates: members should ask whether others have had dealings with the organisation in question and ask those who have to reply off-link (summaries of feedback received about external organisations will not be circulated). Members should not invite comments on the quality of service offered.

• Messages sent in reply to another posting should be sent to the originator of the message, not to the whole list

• Messages promoting AGCAS regional training events may be sent to AGCAS-SERVICELINK, but only after they have been advertised separately by Jan Cornish (AGCAS Training Administrator) to a list of regional members - and the message should include a header explaining that it's an AGCAS regional event and the link to the event on the AGCAS website

• Members asking to be removed from a particular discussion list, or with
requests for changes in subscription options (ie, a change of email
address) or with any other query relating to list subscription, should send
   their request to

• The lists cannot be used to advertise the products, services, resources,
vacancies or events of external organisations, other than those with
whom AGCAS has formal links (view the list of organisations)

• If you are unsure whether your query has been previously posted by
another member, please search the archives before sending a message
to the link. To do this, check that you are logged in to the JISCMail
   website. Go to
(replacing 'agcas-servicelink' with the name of the list archive you are
trying to search). Find the Search Archives option in the far right hand
column. You can search by subject, title, author, date or on a
combination of these options. The Advanced Options function allows
you to fine-tune/narrow your search further. If you find that your query
has already been asked, please contact the originator of the email to
ask if you can have access to the feedback they received.
