Scotland offers workplace experience to international students

The Workplace Experience Programme for International Students is a Scottish government-funded project to help international students at Scottish universities gain exposure to employers in Scotland through a range of opportunities, including work shadowing, mentoring, company visits, short projects and placements. Companies involved range from multinationals to small/medium enterprises (SMEs). As well as giving students experience of the workplace in Scotland, these opportunities also help to expand their transferable skills and develop a local network of professional contacts.

Europe 2020: Scottish National Reform Programme 2013

This report sets out the actions that are being taken forward across Scotland to support the delivery of the ambitions set out in Europe 2020 (the European Union's strategy for delivering smart, sustainable and inclusive growth over the period to 2020). The strategy sets out five key targets for the EU to achieve by the end of the decade. The changing face of youth unemployment and employment in Scotland: 1992-2012

This report reviews trends in terms of youth employment and unemployment in Scotland over the last twenty years from 1992 to 2012. Using a variety of datasources, but mostly the quarterly Labour Force Survey, the report tracks both youth employment and unemployment across these years and highlights that the nature of youth unemployment is changing as jobs become more technical and service-oriented.

This report, based on the GEM 2012 survey, analyses entrepreneurial attitudes, activities and aspirations in Scotland compared to the rest of the UK - and to other countries included in the survey.
